On the 18th July 2026, the HyperBRIDGE project was present at the Public Day of the European Hyperloop Week (EHW), an international event that brings together student research teams and industry professionals working on Hyperloop technologies and the future of sustainable high-speed transportation.
As part of the event’s exhibition area, Lars Pastoor and Lisa Wallesch from the HyperBRIDGE team at HS Emden/Leer showcased current developments in immersive training technologies for Hyperloop research environments. The presentation focused on a VR-Application being developed within HyperBRIDGE, that will allow users to explore and interact with a digital representation of Hyperloop infrastructure for training purposes.
The demonstrated VR application addresses one of the challenges associated with emerging transport technologies: preparing researchers and engineers for work in highly specialized environments. By providing a realistic virtual training environment based on Hyperloop infrastructure, users can gain familiarity with the tube environment before participating in experiments or tests at physical facilities. This approach contributes to safer, more efficient preparation and supports knowledge transfer within the growing Hyperloop ecosystem.
The Public Day attracted approximately 200 visitors. After attending presentations by the participating student teams, visitors explored prototype demonstrations and exhibition stands. Throughout the day, numerous students, family members, and other technology enthusiasts visited the HyperBRIDGE booth and tested the VR demonstration.
The strong interest shown by attendees led to many discussions on the role of virtual reality and the respective research and infrastructure development. Visitors were particularly interested in how immersive technologies can support training processes and improve accessibility to research facilities.
Events such as the European Hyperloop Week provide valuable opportunities to engage with the public, exchange ideas with the research community, and demonstrate how innovative technologies can support the advancement of sustainable mobility. The positive feedback received during the event highlighted the potential of immersive digital twins as an important component of future Hyperloop research and operations.
