We are the Mix(ed Re)ality Lab

The Mixality Lab is part of the Faculty of Technology at the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer. The group was established in 2019 and is headed by Prof. Dr. Thies Pfeiffer.

With our Human-Computer Interaction perspective on Mixed Reality, our team of media engineers and computer scientists focuses on the seamless and user centric integration of virtual and physical environments. We actively design, develop and evaluate adaptive training systems, assistance scenarios for industrial contexts, and intelligent tutoring agents. A research focus of our group is the in-house engineering of accessible authoring tools that empower domain experts to generate immersive content without programming expertise. Beyond that, we conduct rigorous user studies using eye tracking and digital twins to ensure immersive technologies are inclusive and effective across industrial, educational, and healthcare domains. Please refer to our research projects, publications and software for further details.

Students can find more information about our teaching activities and potential theses in the teaching section.
